God Does Not Tempt

James 1:2-15 International Version

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Commentary:
God is holy and has no inclination toward evil.  He is not the author of sin, nor is He responsible for sin's entrance into the human race.  God is permitting evil to run its course until His plan of redemption reaches its culmination.  God cannot be tempted, nor does He tempt anyone.  Though He allows us to tempted.  God has placed limits on Satan's activities and the extent of his power to tempt us.  God is always in control.  Though it might seem so, evil does not reign unbridled on the earth,  In the true story of Job, Satan reports in to God and discusses Job in order to obtain permission to tempt him (Job 1:6-12) God permitted Satan to subject Job to a severe though limited, temptation.  God sustained Job through the trial, and gave him far more than Job had lost.

NO EXCUSE SUNDAY

To make it possible for everyone to attend church next Sunday, we are going to have a special “No Excuse Sunday.”  cots will be placed in the foyer for those who say, “Sunday is my only day for sleeping.”  There will be a special section with lounge chairs for those who feel that our pews are too hard.  Eye drops will be available for those with tired eyes from watching TV late Saturday night.  We will have steel helmets for those who say, “The roof would cave in if  I ever came to church.”  “Blankets will be furnished for those who think the church is too cold and fans for those who say it is too hot.  Scorecards will be available for those who wish to list the hypocrites present.  Relatives and friends will be in attendance for those who can’t go to church and cook dinner, too.  We will distribute “Stamp Out Stewardship” buttons for those who feel that the church is always asking for money.  One section will be devoted to trees and grass for those who like to seek God in nature.  Doctors and nurses will be in attendance for those who plan to be sick on Sunday.   The sanctuary will be decorated with both Christmas poinsettias and Easter lilies for those who never have seen church without them.  We will provide hearing aids for those who can’t hear the preacher.

Prayer For The Oppressed (Black Lives Matter) To Jesus

A Prayer for Protection Psalms 64
(International Standard Version
64 Hear, God, as I express my concern; protect me[a] from fear of the enemy. 2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the mob of those who practice evil, 3 who sharpen their tongues like swords, and aim their bitter words like arrows, 4 shooting at the innocent from concealment. Suddenly they shoot, fearing nothing. 5 They concoct an evil scheme for themselves; they enumerate their hidden snares; they say, “Who will see them?”[b] 6 They devise wicked schemes, saying, “We have completed our plans, hiding them deep in our hearts.” 7 But God shot an arrow at them, and they were wounded immediately. 8 They tripped over their own tongues, and everyone who was watching ran away. 9 Everyone was gripped with fear and acknowledged God’s deeds, understanding what he had done. 10 The righteous rejoiced in the Lord, because they had fled to him for refuge. Let all the upright in heart exult.

 Proverbs 14:31-32
 International Standard Version
31 Whoever oppresses the poor defies their Creator, but whoever is kind to the needy honors them. 32 The wicked person is thrown down by his own wrongdoing, but the righteous person has a place of safety in death.

Proverbs 22:16 International Standard Version 16 Whoever oppresses the poor to enrich himself and whoever gives gifts to the wealthy will yield only loss.
